2018 Juried Exhibitions

Cotuit Center for the Arts announces four open juried exhibitions planned for the 2018 gallery season. Artists are encouraged to submit works in a variety of media inspired by the themes of each exhibition. Themes include “BLOOM," “IMPOSSIBLE DREAM," “EVOLUTION," and “7 DEADLY SINS."

“Bloom” will run May 12 – June 10 and will be the first integrated exhibition mounted in collaboration with Cape Cod Collaborative Arts Network. This exhibition will feature the work of local artists of all abilities, including artists with disabilities who have created work inspired by the theme. During this exhibition period “Beyond Nature” by Laura Fantini and “SHE: Ancient Vessel” by Kimberly Scott will also be on display. The opening reception and artist talk will be held from 5-7pm on Saturday, May 12. The drop-off date of gallery-ready pieces is Monday, May 7 between 10 AM and 4 PM. The entry fee per piece is $10 for CCftA members and $15 for non-members.

“Impossible Dream” will run June 16 – July 29. This open juried exhibition will be on display during the Center’s highly anticipated summer musical theater production of “Man of La Mancha." During this exhibition period “Changing Horizons” by Jeff Rutchik and “Textured Movement” by Jackie DeRuyter will also be on display. The opening reception and artist talk will be held from 5-7pm on Saturday, June 16. The drop-off date of gallery-ready pieces is Monday, June 11 between 10 AM and 4 PM. The entry fee per piece is $10 for CCftA members and $15 for non-members.

“Evolution” will run September 8 – October 7. During this exhibition period “We Carry the Fire," a joint exhibition by artists and spouses Frances Johnson and Kevin King will be featured and the artists will also serve as jurors. In addition, puppets, masks, and marionettes from Mali, from the collection of Claudia Smith-Jacobs, will be on display. The opening reception and artist talk will be held from 5-7pm on Saturday, September 8. The drop-off date of gallery-ready pieces is Tuesday, September 4 between 10 AM and 4 PM. The entry fee per piece is $10 for CCftA members and $15 for non-members.

“7 Deadly Sins – an international juried photography exhibit” will run October 13 – November 11. The second international juried photography exhibition presented by Cotuit Center for the Arts will offer seven prizes totaling more than $3,000 in cash prizes. All submitted work will be shown in our digital gallery and 30 works will be chosen to be hung in the gallery. Professional and amateur submissions are accepted. In addition to the international juried photography exhibition, “Lucky Eye” by Rosemary LeBeau will be on display. The opening reception and artist talk will be held from 5-7pm on Saturday, October 13. Deadline for entries is August 31. $35 for 3 entries, $10 each additional entry. Online submissions will be accepted at callforentry.org.

The art gallery is open 10 AM to 4 PM Monday through Saturday from Labor Day through Memorial Day and 7 days a week during the summer season. Exhibits may also be viewed during evening performances. Admission to the gallery exhibits, opening reception, and artist talks are free; no advance registration is required.
