Cotuit Center for the Arts is partnering with the oldest continuously operating art colony in America, Rocky Neck Art Colony, for two juried exhibitions this Spring & Summer 2023!
“Cape to Cape” will feature works by members of Cotuit Center for the Arts at RNAC in April – May 2023, then in June- July, CCftA will host an exhibit of artwork created by Rocky Neck Art Colony members.

The Call
The Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC) invites artist members from Cotuit Center for the Arts to submit work for inclusion in Cape to Cape, to be held at The Cultural Center at Rocky Neck in Gloucester, MA. Cape to Cape is a collaboration between Rocky Neck Art Colony and Cotuit Center for the Arts.
Two exhibits are planned for the spring/summer season. The first exhibition, to be held at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck in Gloucester from April 27 to June 4, will feature a juried selection of works by members of Cotuit Center for the Arts. The second, to be held at the Cotuit Center for the Arts from June 17 to July 23, will showcase a juried selection of works by Rocky Neck The second, to be held at the Cotuit Center for the Arts from June 17 to July 23,will showcase a juried selection of works by Rocky Neck Art Colony members. These two exhibits will offer artist members from both organizations an opportunity for exposure to a new community of art enthusiasts.
We encourage submissions that speak to our shared connection to nature and the sea, and that reflect a sensibility shaped by that space – both the isolation and the strong community that the isolation breeds.
About the jurors for the RNAC exhibition:
Submissions will be reviewed and selected by Kathleen Gerdon Archer and Amanda Hawkins.
Kathleen Gerdon Archer is a painter/photographer and graduated with honors from Montserrat College of Art. She is a former owner of two galleries and has served in many capacities at Rocky Neck Art Colony, most recently as President from 2017 -2022.

Amanda Hawkins is an award-winning painter. She received a Masters in Fine Arts in Painting from Boston University and Bachelor of Fine Arts from Montserrat College of Art. Her work is in galleries across New England and can be found in private art collections around the globe. She is a trustee for the RNAC and serves on the Exhibitions Committee. https://www.amandakhawkins.com
Eligibility
- Work must be original creations of the artist
- Work must be ready to hang; gold frames are discouraged
- See image requirements below
- All work is for sale. Work sold as a result of the RNAC galleries posting requires the artist to make arrangements with the buyer to have the piece delivered. The buyer will be responsible for covering the costs of that delivery as coordinated by the artist.
Entry Fee
- $25 for up to 3 entries, $10 per additional entry
- Please make sure you have a credit card or a PayPal account to make your payment when applying.

Images used for online submissions
- Submit good quality photos of submitted work in JPEG format
- Images will be at least 300dpi, sized no greater than 2MB, with 1200 pixels max for the longer dimension.
- Each image must be labeled with the following information: Last name, first initial, title, medium.jpg. Example: Smith J. Sunset acrylic.jpg
- No special characters allowed. e.g.!@#$%&*+(){}[]|\ Your image will not be accepted if used.
Size of Art Work: The Cultural Center has a limited amount of wall space that can accommodate works over 60" wide. We suggest that if you submit large scale works it would be good to have smaller options as backup.
Commissions:
All work must be for sale. There is a 40% commission on sales.
Promotion:
Viewers love to “go behind the scenes” with the artists. We welcome any studio visit videos or recorded talks about your works. See examples here: https://www.rnacexhibitions.com/videos.
