How it works:
CLOUD YOGA explores the fundamentals of mindfulness and introduces you to simple breathing techniques which oxygenates the blood/ brain levels and stimulates the nervous system. This is the simplest yoga class you may ever take! Your only job is to deeply breathe and listen. We do the rest of the work.

You may ask how can this be? The answer is simple. It has to do with the power of sound waves and the science behind them.

Studies have found that the 528hz sound waves produced for this class travel through water four times faster than they travel through air, and since our bodies are composed of 70% water, many believe that these sound waves helps us heal and recalibrate by naturally aiding the brain to move into a Theta state (slower even brain waves of deep relaxation), the body's natural rest system, restoring the body to health and the mind to a state of calm.

The deep breathing exercises chosen for this CLOUD YOGA class create heightened oxygen levels and have been shown to have a myriad of physical and emotional benefits. These include: reduction in blood pressure as well as enhancing sleep and memory, improving flexibility and coordination, increasing endorphin levels, boosting immune and glandular functioning, reducing tension, regulating stress-related hormones, and even improving digestion.

Whether a beginner or experienced practitioner, this course will have guaranteed benefits. Through regular practice, we effortlessly gain the ability to settle the body and find a clarity of mind. You will leave this class feeling refreshed and restored.

* A Sound Bath involves the use of sonic waves (or vibrations) produced by Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, and other ancient harmonic instruments, allowing the participants to enter into a a meditative state of relaxation.

* Solfeggio frequencies make up the ancient 6-tone scale thought to have been used in sacred music, including the beautiful and well known Gregorian Chants. Each Solfeggio tone is comprised of a frequency required to balance your energy and keep your body, mind and spirit in perfect harmony.

*A Binaural beat is an auditory illusion, when two pure-tone sine waves (frequencies lower than 1500 Hz, with less than a 40 Hz difference between them) are played simultaneously and are close in pitch but not identical. When perceived the Binaural Beat sound waves stimulate Theta brain levels.

* Yoga Nidra translates to resting in awareness. While laying in a restorative pose the participants are guided through a series of steps of; breath awareness, body mapping, energetic flow, and emotional awareness and release. These systematic mental exercises and methodical levels of awareness induce full body relaxation and mental refreshment. Yoga Nidra has shown to ease insomnia, decrease anxiety, reduce stress, increase focus and transform negative habits and thoughts.

Tristan began officially practicing yoga in 1986, shortly after moving to NYC to study dance at the Martha Graham School. As a kid he watched what his mother called the old lady yoga on the local UHF Channel and was inspired by the Yogi who folded himself into the little clear plastic box on Will Davidson’s “Thats Incredible.” He has had the great fortune for the past 33 years to study, practice, and teach throughout the US, Asia, and India. What attracts him to this art form called yoga is not only the physical exercise but the special clear, strong, calm, mental quality we acquire while doing it.
