During this two-week long course taught by accomplished illustrator and Cape Cod native, Maddie Edgar, young artists will observe the beauty of nature and create art in response! Using natural materials and objects as inspiration and even as building components, students will incorporate what they see around them in the natural world into their own unique creations and works of art.
Working in the Schoolhouse space and outside on the grounds, students will draw and sketch what they observe, as well as create mixed-media pieces in 2-D and 3-D, and will keep a nature journal where they write or respond to nature creatively on their own. Students will complete the class with at least three original works of art and a nature journal to continue working on in the future.
Maddie Edgar is a Cape Cod native who received her BFA in illustration from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. She is now a working illustrator living between Brooklyn and Falmouth who does freelance editorial work, illustration for animation, and commissioned art works.
Maddie has loved teaching from a young age and is always excited to work with young artists.
