Tish Adams
Tish Adams is a Rhode Island-based vocalist. Ask Tish Adams what she does for a living and she’ll flash you a smile and say...“I make FUN!” She truly lives her motto: Jazz, Blues & a few surprises! She is inspired and imaginative with phrasing and tempos, making old songs new again, in a style that is all her own. Her fans compare her to the “Great Ladies of Jazz.” Musicians call her “A Natural.” A true vocal stylist, her voice spans a wide range - not only of notes - but of tones, textures, moods and intensities. Her slow, smoky ballads seem as effortless as her most danceable Swing. Tish also loves to share music. As the weekly host of "The Vocalists & Localists Show” (www.wriu.org), she has served up her favorite vocalists, promoted recordings of New England-based Jazz artists and provided a local calendar of musical events for over 25 years and counting. When Covid-19 shut down live music everywhere, Tish provided a safe haven for Jazz artists and their fans with her own concert series. "Tish Adams Presents..." is now in its fifth season and continues to host an impressive ‘who’s who’ of New England musicians. Tish will be accompanied by Mike Flanagan on sax, Fred Boyle on piano, Ron Ormsby on bass, and Bart Weisman on drums.
Mike Flanagan
Mike Flanagan opens the concert and he is an American saxophonist, pianist, songwriter, composer, music director, educator, and actor from Brockton, MA. Mike holds a Bachelor’s of Music in Jazz Saxophone and Music Education from Berklee College of Music, as well as a Master’s of Music in Music Theory, Composition & Songwriting from New York University, where he also taught composition as an adjunct professor. Mike has won 2 OUTmusic Awards, a Lennon Award, and charted on Billboard 3 times. As a saxophonist, Mike leads several of his own groups and music directs for Lea DeLaria. He has shared the stage with jazz greats Steve Davis, Mike Tucker, Marilyn Maye, Gray Sargent, Marshall Wood, Tim Ray, Richie Barshay, Dave Zinno, Donna Byrne, Terri Lyne Carrington, Joanne Brackeen, Esperanza Spaulding, and more and has toured the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Mike also tours with and music directs for Lisa Bello in their multi-award-winning R&B/hybrid setting ‘Lisa Bello x MikeMRF’. In spring of 2002, Mike and Lisa toured the U.S. with the release of their live album, “Wait Just Listen,” and sold out the main stage at City Winery Boston. Mike also performs with singer/songwriter, Matt Alber, and co-leads a jazz quintet alongside Lauren Scales and Chris Grasso. Mike will be accompanied by the Cape Cod Jazz Trio with Fred Boyle on piano, Ron Ormsby on bass, and Bart Weisman on drums with a Special Guest Appearance by Tedi Marsh on vocals.
