If you’ve always wanted to learn to draw better but were afraid you didn’t have the talent for it, Sketching for Scaredy Cats II is for you. This class is aimed at advanced beginners that have some experience in drawing. Classes will focus on techniques that will help you draw what you see, the way you see it.
Instructor Mary Richmond of Cape Cod Art and Nature has been teaching people of all ages to draw for over 35 years, and she believes anyone and everyone can learn to draw, given a few simple techniques and some practice. Students will learn various traditional techniques and will be able to draw from life with some skill and confidence after the 8-week session. All a student needs for the first class is 9 x 12” sketchbook (the kind with LOTS of paper) and a pencil. Nothing fancy. Don’t bother to bring an eraser.
Mary Richmond is a life-long resident of Barnstable with a long history of teaching art classes for all ages. Her special love is working with beginners and encouraging all to find their inner artist. She is also a weekly nature columnist for the Cape Codder and Enterprise Newspapers and writes regularly for the Barnstable Patriot. Her ink drawings accompany her writings.
Our classes and workshops are open to students of all abilities and needs. We are currently unable to provide one-on-one instruction, though we will make every attempt to address accommodations for full and successful engagement whenever possible.
If a student requires individual supports, parent/guardian/PCA/teacher/ABA Therapists/etc are welcome to attend.
