This 8-week class is aimed at those who have never used a pottery wheel before or those who would like a refresher after a few years off. Instructor Ron Dean will introduce you to the pottery wheel, how to center clay on it, how to form that clay into a vessel, and how to glaze your finished product. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and Ron’s teaching method is one of learning a process rather than getting too precious about the end result.
Ron Dean started making pottery in 1969 at the Clay Art Center in Port Chester N.Y. where he worked as the studio manager and taught classes. He moved to Marstons Mills on Cape Cod in 1982 and built his own studio while working as a production potter at a local pottery.
For 12 years Ron worked as a principle potter at Plimoth Plantation and for more than 20 years he has taught at local art centers including the Creative Arts Center at Chatham and Castle Hill at Truro. During this time, he has continued to develop his own personal style and practice at his Marstons Mills studio. See more of his work at www.rondeanpottery.com.
