BREAKING THE SHAKESPEARE CODE By John Minigan

A staged reading.

About the performers:

Miranda Jonte is an Bay Area-raised longtime New Yorker and now, a dog-recuing Texan. Miranda was last at CCftA with her shows Good & Kissed, and St. Francis. She is thrilled to be back.

As an actor, Miranda played Anna in the premieres of John Minigan's Breaking the Shakespeare Code in Chicago and New York, and in a 2019 revival in NYC. She primarily works with new material and has originated roles in several new plays since 2010. Past roles include Nina, Masha, Miss Julie, Mary Stuart, Tracy in Seascape with Sharks and Dancer, and Mercy in I Am Yours. She can be seen as Sybil in Noel Coward’s Private Lives this July at Saco River Theatre in Maine, and is currently workshopping the original one-woman show, re(Dressing) Miss Havisham by John Minigan.

Miranda won Best Actress in feature film Teacher of the Year (Film Festival International, London). She founded Back Porch Theater, a live streaming theater outlet on Facebook. As a playwright, her plays have been produced across the country and appear in three Smith & Kraus books. (Best Plays From American Theatre Festivals 2015 & Contemporary Monologues for a New Theater, 2017, The Best Women’s Stage Monologues 2022) Her play, St. Francis, is in development for a feature film.

Offtage, Miranda spent two years exploring the country in her trusty van, Mathilda. She loves Washington State and Cape Cod best. She works in cat and dog rescue, drinks a lot of coffee and loves paranormal podcasts. She is known as mama!mama!mom!mom! to her two rescue dogs, Red and Trudy.

Proud member of Actors Equity and Dramatists Guild. Miranda’s plays can be found on New Play Exchange.
