Christiane Corcelle: Trees to Paper to Trees
On View Aug. 14 - Oct. 2
Opening reception Saturday, August 21, 3:00pm-5:00pm
For a full year Christiane Corcelle collected all of her paper waste that she would otherwise have put into the recycling bin. Every week, she was surprised to see the huge amount of paper that had been collected. She wanted to show the amount of trees that were cut for paper that, for the most part, she did not ask for. This project evolved on it's own. Corcelle shredded all the paper and created free form shapes that are both pleasing and strange, resembling trees. Some are still standing and others have fallen.
