Bruce Marshall Open Mic at Cotuit Center for the Arts

Bruce Marshall will host an Open Mic at Cotuit Center for the Arts on Friday, June 1, at 7 PM. This will be a fun night of music on Cotuit’s Main Stage.

Well-known in the music community for hosting open mics, Marshall has started many series in the Greater Boston area that continue to flourish. He currently hosts regular open mics in Concord, MA, and Harrison, ME.

This will be an acoustic-based open mic, but all instruments are welcome, with the exception of full drum kits. Marshall will be available to accompany performers.

Sign-up is in person, starting at 6 PM, first-come, first-served. The limit is two songs. Performers are offered free admission.

Marshall performs with the Bruce Marshall Group, which plays a rich catalog of vibrant original material rooted in the blues, R&B, Americana, country blues, and Southern boogie. Their latest album is “Borrowed Time,” which is all about the blues, from Jump to the Delta.

The new CD plus Marshall’s previous CDs will be available to buy. Marshall and his wife, Michelle, will also have items from their own line of guitar string jewelry and other original designs for sale in the merchandise area.

Marshall was on the road for most of the 1980s with his popular Boston-based band, Bruce Marshall and the Clue. In 1989, he joined forces with Toy Caldwell of the Marshall Tucker Band, and they toured the US in support of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, and the Outlaws. In the 1990s, Marshall formed a duo with his old friend and bluesman James Montgomery and they have performed together for over 20 years.

Tickets are $12; performers are admitted without charge. Cotuit Center for the Arts is at 4404 Route 28, in Cotuit. For more information, visit artsonthecape.org, or call 508-428-0669.
