Press Release: An Evening of Song with Sara Sneed at Cotuit Center for the Arts

Cotuit Center for the Arts presents Sara Sneed in an evening of song in the Art Gallery on Sunday, July 14 at 7:30 PM.

Sara Sneed has appeared on the Cotuit stage in numerous productions, including “Man of La Mancha” as Aldonza and “Mary Poppins” as Mary Poppins, “A Few Good Men” as Joanne Galloway and “Of Mice and Men” as Curly’s wife.

For her role in “A Few Good Men,” she was awarded the BroadwayWorld Boston Award for Best Actress in a Play. She has appeared in numerous other musical theater productions in her home state of Kansas and across the Cape, where she and her husband and seven children moved in 2014.

Accompanied by Chris Morris on piano, Sneed will sing arias from “Lucia di Lammermoor” is a tragic opera by Gaetano Donizetti set in the Lammermuir Hills of Scotland; “Adriana Lecouvreur,” an opera by Francesco Cilea based on the life of the French actress Adrienne Lecouvreur (1692–1730); “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” (The Barber of Seville),” a comic opera by Gioachino Rossini. Also on the program are lieder by Strauss and Schubert and a few French surprises.

Sneed and Morris will top off the evening with some of her signature musical theater pieces.

Sneed began singing with her church choir when she was only 4 years old and performed on stage in “Peter Pan” when she was 8. She has a BA in vocal performance from Pacific Lutheran University and a master’s in business administration from the University of Phoenix, where she taught introductory business courses while living in Missouri and Kansas. She owns the Bashful Tarte bakery in South Yarmouth.
