For Immediate Release:
“Let’s Get the Mills Swinging” Community Brunch at Cotuit Center for the Arts
Sunday, July 22nd, 11am -1:30 pm.
Join us for a community pot luck brunch and picnic to thank First Responders and to help improve the Mills, featuring Cape Harmony and the Hyannis Sound, Cape Cod’s summer all-star women’s and men’s collegiate a Capella groups taking place at Cotuit Center for the Arts on Sunday, July 22 at 11am. The event is sponsored by Wendy’s Restaurants. The organizers suggest a donation $5, free for first responders. There will be opportunities at the event to raise funds to refurbish the Sand Shores playground and park.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a brunch plate to share. A cash bar will be available.
On April 12th, Sgt. Sean Gannon was killed in line of duty in the village of Marstons Mills, in a neighborhood locally known as, “the Berries.” During that period, people from the village and the Berries all gained a greater appreciation for the challenges of being a first responder, and wanted to say thanks for all that first responders do. In addition, residents in the Berries are trying to make something good come from the tragedy, by taking it as a call to revitalize their neighborhood, starting with a new park.
To that end, residents of the Berries and the Sand Shores Neighborhood Association, along with Cotuit Center for the Arts and local Wendy’s Restaurants, have come together to put on a great summer event to bring the community together, have some fun through music and food, and say thanks.
The event will feature the Cape’s men’s and women’s summer collegiate a capella groups, the Hyannis Sound and Cape Harmony, respectively – both filled with all-star singers from around the country – each doing a set. Please bring a dish to share with your neighbors at this family-friendly event.
Cotuit Center for the Arts is at 4404 Route 28 in Cotuit. For more information, visit www.artsonthecape.org or call 508-428-0669.
