Back by popular demand for two nights (because she sells out so quickly), internationally acclaimed pop/jazz/blues entertainer Suede will perform at Cotuit Center for the Arts on Friday, August 10, and Saturday, August 11, at 7:30 PM.
Direct from headlining with Melissa Etheridge and Sarah McLachlan, Suede has been described by New York critics as being “Like Adele meets Diana Krall meets Bette Midler.”
She was also Joan Rivers’ opening act. “Come see why!” said David Kuehn, executive director of CCftA.
New York Times called Suede’s performance “a spectacular evening of song and style. Voices like hers come along maybe once in a generation." The Boston Globe said she’s “Wicked exciting.” New York’s Steppin’ Out Arts raved that she has “a great voice, even better enthusiasm, and an almost giddy delight at entertaining audiences that if bottled would make every anti-depressant on the market obsolete."
Suede has performed sold-out shows coast to coast at world-renowned venues like New York’s famous Birdland, Boston’s Scullers Jazz Club, San Francisco’s Feinstein’s, Washington DC’s Kennedy Center and beyond.
Suede plays piano, trumpet, and guitar, but voice is her first instrument and her powerful charismatic presence and love of entertaining are what truly make her stand out. She sings everything from originals written for her by a circle of talented contemporary writers to favorite intimate ballads, jazz standards, and “bring-down-the-house” belted-out blues—all with her own signature blend of warmth, wit, and musical artistry.
Suede will be joined for these concerts by her versatile New England trio: Freddie Boyle on piano, Rich Hill on bass, and Steve Langone on drums.
Tickets are $40, $35 for balcony seating. There is a $5 discount for members and a $2 discount for seniors and veterans, and $25 for members. For tickets, and more information, visit artsonthecape.org, or call 508-428-0069. Cotuit Center for the Arts is at 4404 Route 28 in Cotuit.
