Cotuit Center for the Arts presents UNBOUND III, on Thursday, May 2, from 4 to 8 PM, on the Main Stage and in the Gallery. UNBOUND III is a drop-in event of ArtWeek Massachusetts and is free and open to the public, with 4-6 PM especially for youth/teens.

An innovative, interactive, and collaborative arts experience, UNBOUND III explores personal and global themes of freedom, and is designed to be participatory and uncensored. The event features visual artists, dancers, poets, and musicians, along with audience interaction.

Artists will create on-the-spot, while those attending are invited to explore and make art of their own. Performances of dance, music, and spoken-word will blend with opportunities to interact and create. There will be opportunities for immersing in a sound bath, writing poetry, art-making, dancing, singing, playing the drums, photography and video, and more. All ages are invited to come and explore the arts without conventional bounds.

Participating artists include: Kimberly Sheerin, ceramicist and owner of The Barn Pottery, who will be debuting a body of work, “Vessels as Vehicles,” about human trafficking and women’s empowerment; Jackie Reeves, painter and Chalkboard Studio founder; Sarah Symons, collage artist and founder of Her Future Coalition – an international nonprofit fighting human trafficking, originally known as Made by Survivors and started on Cape Cod in 2005.

Innovative dance using giant frames and shapes will be performed by Movimento Project members David Iannitelli (co-director), Diana Kenney, Antonia Stephens, and Jeffrey Annis, who will also guide event attendees to explore improvisational movement inside the frames.

Music will be performed by Rebecca Prien & Carson Weatherby, founders of Karmalectric Mantra & Sound, and drummer Sam Holmstock. Other participating artists include Julia Cumes, photographer; Deer Sullivan, artist; Wilderness Sarchild, poet and playwright; Christine Ernst, writer and performer; Adele Reeves, artist, Heather Blume, artist, and many more!

“Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind event,” said Reeves, the coordinator of the event. “It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the creative efforts of Cape Cod artists of all kinds and to participate in the creative process.”
