West Side Story

Cotuit Center for the Arts presents a singalong version of the 1961 film “West Side Story” on Sunday, August 11, at 7:30 PM. Admission is free.

“West Side Story” won 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, for its dazzling adaption of the Broadway musical smash show inspired by “Romeo and Juliet.” The film, which stars Natalie Woods and Richard Beymer, tells a tale of forbidden love between Tony and Maria, who are allied with rival gangs, the Sharks and the Jets.

“West Side Story” is acclaimed for its brilliant score and lyrics by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, featuring songs such as “Maria,” “Tonight,” and “America” and for Jerome Robbins’ vibrant choreography and the Oscar®-winning footwork of George Chakiris and Rita Moreno.

“It won’t be ‘just any night,’” said David Kuehn, executive director of the Center. “The audience is invited to be part of the cast and sing along with all the rousing and wonderful songs from this celebrated show. Join us for the fun! ‘It’s gonna be great!’”

Cotuit Center for the Arts is at 4404 Route 28 in Cotuit. For more information, visit www.artsonthecape.org or call 508-428-0669.
