Press Release: Zoë Lewis and the Souvenirs at Cotuit Center for the Arts

Aug. 7, 2018 / Press Release
Zoe Lewis

Cotuit Center for the Arts presents Zoë Lewis and the Souvenirs on Wednesday, August 29, at 7:30 PM.

Get ready for an extravaganza of original music, humor and some marvelous storytelling. Affectionately known as “a band in a body,” Zoë Lewis delivers a lively mix of vintage jazz, gypsy swing, and world-beat grooves played on anything from the piano to the spoons. She will be joined by an array of wonderful musicians: Kami Lyle on trumpet, Mark Chenevert on clarinet, Jon Evans on bass and Liam Hogg on drums and some surprises.

“She’s got it all—a masterful combination of song, performance, and artistry, with a contagiously positive attitude. Probably the most charismatic performance I’ve ever seen,” enthused one reviewer. Another noted that “her fast-paced lyrics poke fun at modern society and praise the rambling delights of childhood, secret worlds, and wandering love.”

Originally from England, Lewis has lived in Provincetown for 28 years. She's traveled the globe (to over 70 countries) picking up musical influences along the way and has performed all over the US and Canada. She has won numerous song-writing accolades, her songs have appeared on major TV commercials, in films, on Broadway and she’s written two musicals “Snail Road” and “Across the Pond” that were both produced on the Cape. She also leads a 1920s Speakeasy Night featuring her Prohibition-era dance band Zoë Lewis and the Bootleggers.

Lewis has toured with the Indigo Girls, Richie Havens, Judy Collins, Nanci Griffiths, and even opened for Pat Benetar on the ukulele. Her adventures have included jumping boxcars, riding on freight boats, and playing music with an elephant orchestra in Thailand. She performs every winter in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Lewis has recorded eight albums of original material, including her most recent “The Sound of Wings” and has another one on the way. Don't miss this upbeat and highly entertaining show.

Tickets are $32, $27 for balcony seating. There is a $5 discount for members and a $2 discount for seniors.
